CORRUPT FIRE OFFICER DAVID MAAS

DAVID MAAS FIRE DEPARTMENT OBJECTOR PINNACLE 2000

“We have limited areas we have to set up our ladder and truck. Because there’s a certain grade (steep slopes) that we could work off the truck comfortably. The maximum we can work up is five, six percent (slopes). Some of the areas of that site is anywhere up to 12 percent (20-25% and above) which we have limited accessibility with our truck operation, which would give us lack of mobility to sometime provide rescue to second or third floor areas, which we would not be able to do with ground ladders. Height of the Rear of the Property could be anywhere from 35-40 feet up. Currently right now our town has ground ladders which we provide with our truck option of 40 feet, which means the third floor from the rear would not give us the mobility to create a rescue scenario from the rear. If we need to provide rescues, it hampers our ability to do so.
CHAIRMAN COLANDREA: FIRE EQUPMENT IS NOT GOING TO WITHSTAND SOME OF THESE GRADES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. Mr. Mardini (Pinnacle): The only comment I have, I have and agree with you, is it’s extremely high. The percentage of slopes on certain areas is 13 percent. NO FIRE TRUCK WILL BE ABLE TO APPROACH THE BUILDING. A 13 system probably would be warranted. All are talking percent & grades which mean steep slopes. This land is 59% STEEP SLOPES out of which 42% are 25% and above grade and 17% are 20-25% grade as per the Board Findings of Nov. 1, 2000. When fire truck has problem with 12% how they can negotiate the Entrance Driveway of K & K Wilf which will be 14%? MAAS NEVER TALKED ABOUT PERCENT, SLOPES, GRADES IN 2005 WHILE EVALUATING K & K DEVELOPERS, INC. AND ZYGMUNT WILF’S PROJECT.
